Last night I took a nice Epson salt bath and relaxed a little. This morning I was a little low on energy. I really wanted to participate in a bike ride with one of the Adventure clubs here in town, then I realized that there was a potluck following the ride. I had signed up for it long before I knew I wanted to do the SNAP challenge. Panic set in. Should I cancel, or leave after the bike ride or explain what I am doing and that “I dont have the means to bring anything”, or make something with my pantry reserve. I opted for the last. I was fretting a little to lose the eggs and the butter but I made a tasty Oatmeal bake (cost $3.50) again from the leftover items. We had a wonderful bike ride and the food was great. I am glad I went. But I am wondering when you really dont have the means you probably rather skip those things as they can get pretty painful to realize all the things you cant afford.
I had to whisk something up this morning to take to the bike ride. Leftovers (right).
I had a wonderful time on the bike ride, followed by a nice potluck lunch at the park. Afterwards we decided to go for a quick hike around Grant Park. Just awesome. Here are some pics I took. It almost felt like I went on a little vacation. But the truth is its only minutes from my house. And the beauty of nature is free.
